Merlo Station

Pre-development loans totaling $75,000 to Tualatin Valley Housing Partners (TVHP), a nonprofit community development organization serving the Beaverton area, helped the construction of Merlo Station.
These loans enabled TVHP to conduct essential due diligence on the Merlo light-rail housing project. A partnership between the City of Beaverton and Tri-Met means those below 55 percent of area median income will be served. Many of the 128 units will be providing three-bedroom apartments, large enough for families with children. In addition, 12 of the units are set aside for adults with developmental disabilities, allowing special needs populations to live as part of an integrated community.

Garrett Lee Smith Safe Haven

Safe Haven
A pass-through grant of $25,000 from Nike® to the Luke-Dorf Corporation, a local nonprofit organization serving individuals with severe and persistent mental illnesses, helped renovate this beautiful facility. The grant supported the conversion of the 1850 home into a 10-unit residential project for chronically homeless people with mental illness. In January 2007, the house was dedicated Garrett Lee Smith Safe Haven in honor of the late son of Oregon Senator and Mrs. Gordon Smith. This grant was matched by over $700,000 in federal grant dollars.

Luke-Dorf House
living room
A grant of $30,000 to Luke-Dorf, Inc., a mental health housing and service provider in Tigard, added 15 new beds in a residential treatment program in Hillsboro for individuals with a dual diagnosis of substance abuse and mental illiness. Alcohol and drug-free housing will be offered to men re-establishing linkages in the community. The project is a partnership between Washington County, the City of Hillsboro, the Fund, along with other funders.

Greenburg Oaks Apartments
Greenburg Oaks
A grant of $25,000 to Community Partners for Affordable Housing (CPAH), a Tigard-based nonprofit organization, supported the rehabilitation of 84 units of housing for low-income residents. Before the extensive rehabilitation, the property was an eye-sore for the community. Greenberg Oaks is now a lively community offering a variety of resident services and activities for children. Some $2.5 million, all raised for the project by the grantee organization, leveraged this grant.
